Ceremben (a Veterinary medication closely based on AIMSPRO) has been shown to suppress Tumour Necrosis Factor (TNF) alpha production in a model of equine endotoxaemia. Ceremben has now been approved by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medications Authority (APVMA) for the treatment, by Veterinary Surgeons, of this distressing condition.
A randomised, double-blind, "Proof of Concept" field study to test the safety, efficacy and tolerability of Ceremben in a second equine indication has now completed. This is about to be followed by a fully powered study, for which regulatory and ethical approvals have been obtained. This second condition represents a particular challenge in young athletic horses in training.
